Book News (Not MLIF)

So, as usual, I’m behind. Seriously, drastically, two weeks behind. I’ve started My Life in France, or MLIF as I will sometimes say, but I haven’t finished the first chapter yet, so I can’t do a blog on it in true honesty. There are just a few news items that I want to put out there.

News Item #1:

The Lovely Bones, which you all know is the first book I blogged about, had it’s cinematic wide release this last weekend. It’s currently, by IMDB’s reports, #3 at the box office. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it has thus far raked in over 17 million at the box office. So, monetarily, it’s doing pretty good. However, there are rumblings that this movie is not so good. In fact, it’s gotten a rotten (or moldy, however they say it) rating on Rotten Tomatoes at only 37%. I’m not discouraging anyone from going to this. In fact, I’m going tonight so I can review it for you tomorrow. Who knows? Maybe this is one of those movies where the critics are totally off base.

News Item #2

This isn’t really interesting news, but I’ve picked my two books after I finish MLIF. I’ll be doing The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd immediately after, and then after that I will be doing The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

News Item #3

The newest movie based on a comic book (which is still a book, btw) series, Kick-Ass, is in full press-releasing swing. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty darn excited. This movie looks pretty awesome, despite it starring Nicholas Cage (I can’t forgive him for Ghost Rider…I just can’t). Here’s the preview, if you haven’t seen it.

Looks Kick-Ass, doesn’t it?
